Power, Control & Intensity
The ECLIPSE Premium Amplifiers are 100%
ECLIPSE, created with our dedication to quality
construction, sonic excellence and flat-out
performance. No current limiting and completely
unregulated power supplies guarantee a neutral,
clean sound quality with virtually unlimited
dynamic power on demand.
Separated Power Supply and Signal
Amplifier Sections
ECLIPSE 34230 high-quality audio systems rely
on separate and independent amplifier power
supply and signal sections to ensure a stable
source of power and clear signal. The benefit of
having separate power and driver stages are even
greater in a car audio environment, with its
significant electrical current, vibrations and
various sources of distortion. The ECLIPSE 34230
delivers generous power without noise.
Interference between the power and driver stages
such as switching distortion and radiated noise are
eliminated. The result is sonic purity and effortless
power.
Symmetrical Layout
The ECLIPSE 34230 utilizes a symmetrical
component layout to achieve superior channel
separation. The right and left channels are
physically isolated to eliminate intermodulation
and achieve excellent separation, resulting in
vastly improved system imaging capability.
Massive Bus Bars
Look for the sizable metal bars used at the power
supply connector of 34230. These bus bars allow
the flow of high current to the PC board more
efficiently without potential meltdown of solder
traces or the added resistance presented by more
parts. Passing all that current through a bus bar
rather than a circuit board solder trace keeps
unwanted heat and resistance to a minimum. The
secondary signal circuit board also has input
power connections to the main PC board using the
same copper bus bar blocks, which helps to keep
the heat out of the delicate, sensitive electronic
components of the amplifier. Less heat and cleaner
sound make for better performance.
High Voltage Input
Even the best-engineered amplifiers often overlook
the obvious. ECLIPSE has engineered very high
input voltage capabilities into the new amplifiers
so that you can take advantage of the full
performance that your high signal voltage headunit
output offers. Without high voltage input
capability, an amplifier will clip prematurely and
create excessive heat in the speaker. Able to handle
input signals of up to 8 volts, these amplifiers are
compatible with virtually any signal source voltage
output used in car audio today and easily cope
with competition-use demands.
ChannelFlex Crossover
The built-in ChannelFlex crossover is designed
with audio quality, flexibility, and simplicity of
system design and installation in mind. This is not
just an ordinary built in crossover though. There
are effectively two separate and distinct crossovers
with a variable subsonic filter in the 34230 and
33250 and switchable slope control for the 33250
and 33230. The switchable slope feature allows for
more precise control of bandwidth limited output
power, which means more sonic accuracy in
subwoofers, midbass drivers, and midrange
drivers without distortion. Since distortion is a
major contributor to premature speaker failures,
the variable subsonic filter in the 34230 and 33250
and switchable slope control for the 33250 and
33230 will make speakers last longer and sound
audibly better.
Pre-Amp Outputs
The 34230, and 33250 all feature crossover pre-
amp level outputs, which make adding additional
amplifiers in the system a simple and
straightforward process. Signal purity is
maintained throughout due to common signal
reference grounds and high signal voltages. It
perfectly complements the simplicity of total
system design using ECLIPSE amplifiers.
Intelligent 7-Way Discrete Protection
Circuitry
Seven-way protection circuitry protects the
amplifiers from accidental misconnections or short
circuits in the audio system. There is thermal
protection (up to 100°C), DC offset, protection
against excessive current on the output side,
voltage output overload, excessive current in the
power supply, reverse polarity power input and
shorted speaker leads. A servo system monitors
each of these circuits and measures them against a
reference. If a condition is determined to be
outside of reference tolerances, the amplifier enters
a protection mode, preventing damage to the amp
and audio system. The protection circuitry is
discrete from the audio signal path, so the audio
signal never passes through protection
components, keeping the audio signal free of
interference, coloration or noise.
Noise Reduction with Low Distortion &
Ultralow Negative Feedback
ECLIPSE amplifiers use very high-quality amp
devices which are inherently less noisy than those
conventionally used by other manufactureres. The
traditional method of reducing distortion is to
“feedback” out-of-phase distortion into the audio
signal. The idea is that two out-of-phase signals
should cancel each other. This does work, but at
the expense of an appealing, open sound, usually
causing a closed-in type of sound devoid of
warmth.The higher-quality components in
ECLIPSE amplifiers and their advanced circuits
make such “bandaid” fixes like too much NFB
wholly unnecessary.
Double-Sided Printed Circuit Boards
ECLIPSE Premium Amplifiers employ 70-micron
copper circuit board traces (twice the thickness of
a conventional copper trace) for superior sound
quality. This technology provides lower distortion
and improved low frequency performance to
significantly increase absolute listening pleasure
in your vehicle.
High-Current, High-Speed Output
Devices
The output devices are capable of generating high
current at high speed. This improves both
frequency response and amplifier damping which
helps control the mechanical movement of the
speaker cone.
High-Efficiency, High-Energy MOSFET
Power Supply
The ECLIPSE power supply uses current draw
from the car’s electrical system more efficiently
to produce higher power.
Audiophile-Grade Component Selection
High-quality components and parts designed
exclusively for audio applications are employed for
a difference that is easily heard.
